New Civic to be cleaner, more powerful

Honda has improved its 2.2 diesel to provide the new generation 2012 Honda Civic with substantially reduced fuel consumption and emissions, while at the same time increasing power.

The emissions will have dropped by 29g/km to 110g/km, bringing the new Civic comfortably into the A Band for Irish tax purposes.

Power output will now be 150hp, an increase of 10hp.

The new car will be unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show in a month's time. The current car went on sale in 2006 and the Civic nameplate was first introduced in 1972.
