Kia introduce third shift at Vilina factory

Kia is introducing a third production shift at its European production facility in Slovakia and will recruit 1,000 new employees to keep up with rising demand for their cars, writes Trish Whelan.

Strong demand for all their models, especially for the new Sportage SUV made at the plant, means they need to significantly increase production at the facility.

The Korean brand invested over €1 billion in the ultra-modern Zilina plant which is designed for maximum flexibility between models. The Sportage, Venga MPV and cee'd family - five door hatchback, estate and three-door, can all be manufactured simultaneously on each of the final assembly lines.

Kia Ireland has recently introduced its new 1.0 Picanto city car priced from €11,495.
