Most efficient Jag ever arrives
The most fuel efficient Jaguar ever, the new XF 2.2 i4 Diesel has gone on sale priced from €44,995-€62,495, writes Trish Whelan.
Producing 190hp and 450 Nm of torque, this new turbo diesel engine doesn't stint on the performance or refinement expected of a true Jag sports saloon.
Technical advances include the introduction of a new ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and a stop/start system fitted to all diesel derivatives within the XF range. There are no manual versions.
The XF can achieve 5.4 L/100kms (52.3mpg) on the combined fuel consumption cycle. Reduced C02 emissions to 149g/km puts the car into Band C of €302 annual road tax.
The 2012 model year XF, offered in four trim levels, has been given a more luxurious finish inside and out. Exterior changes include a new, larger front grille, sleeker HID bi-xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights, new bumpers and revised tail lamps with LED.
Upgraded interiors come with new leather seat styles, a new instrument panel, and an optional premium sound system. Bluetooth and is standard.
The range also includes a 3.0 V6 turbo diesel engine, priced from €55,950-€75,795, in Band D of €447 for Annual Road Tax. A 5.0 V6, in Band G, is priced from €86,995-€114,495.
Jaguar Ireland expect to sell around 350 units of the new XF in 2012, according to MD of Jaguar Ireland Gerard O'Farrell (pictured above with the car).
