New small hybrid from Toyota
A Yaris-based Prius will be one of the new Toyota cars to be debuted later this month at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Designated the Prius C and based on the concept (above) shown at Detroit at the beginning of this year, the 4 metres long car uses a new lighter hybrid powertrain than those used in other Toyota hybrids, with primary power from a 1.5 petrol engine.
An electric-only cruising range of 24kms should make it a suitable hybrid for suburban commuters.
It goes on sale in Japan next month, and in the US next year. There are no Ireland/Europe plans announced yet.
