Opel gets safety award for lights system

Opel has been given a special Advanced Euro NCAP Award for its Adaptive Forward Lighting system, designed to save lives by making driving after dark safer.

The Award is one of a new series being promoted by the ENCAP crash test organisation to encourage carmakers to develop road safety technology.

Opel was the first carmaker to fit the AFL system, back in 2002. It is now available on the Corsa, Meriva and Zafira. The system combines dynamic curve and static cornering lights to improve night-time visibility.

A more advanced system, AFL+ adds eight more automatic functions and is available on the Astra, Insignia and Zafira Tourer.
