Two million Yaris built in Europe (and counting…)

Toyota is celebrating building its two millionth Yaris in Europe, the car coming off the line at its Valenciennes factory in northern France on 28 October.

The landmark model is a 1.4 D-4D five-door in Burning Red, destined for a customer in France.

If all the first and second generation Yaris manufactured since 2001 formed a nose-to-tail queue, it would reach from London to beyond Kathmandu, a distance of more than 4,600 miles.

The Yaris is the brand's best-selling model in Europe and over 150,000 are built each year at Valenciennes. Production of the new Yaris Hybrid will also begin next year.
