Kia invests further at its European facility at Zilina

If you drive a Kia vehicle, this is where your car was born.

This is the Korean company's Slovakia production facility at Zilina in Slovakia which posted record production and investment figures during 2011.

The Kia facility produced more than 252,000 cars and 359,000 engines in 2011, representing increases of 10 and 12 per cent respectively over the previous year.

Kia also invested heavily through 2011, recruiting an additional 900 employees to staff a third production shift in January this year, bringing the total workforce to over 3,900 employees.

This year will see Kia invest another €110m in its Zilina facility and launch production of the all-new Kia cee'd. The SportageSUV, cee'd 5- and 3-door and estate models, along with the Venga are built at the plant.

At this moment, Kia are the fastest growing brand in Europe.
