New A6 allroad coming

Audi's third generation A6 Avant will be arriving in RHD markets in mid-summer, writes Brian Byrne.

It will be available with options from four engines, a 3.0 petrol and three 3.0 diesels. A TFSI will offer 310hp and 440Nm, while the diesels will range from 204-313hp.

Audi say it has cut fuel fuel consumption in the new version of its all-terrain A6 variant by up to 20 percent.

The basis of the vehicle is quattro all-wheel-drive and four-level height adjustable air suspension.

Aluminium components make up 20 percent of its body and total vehicle weight has been reduced by as much as 70kg compared with the previous model.

The most likely popular version for the Irish market is the 204hp car with CO2 output of 159g/km, still offering 7.5-second sprint to 100km/h capability.

Depending on engine, the new Allroad has 7- or 8-speed automatic transmissions.

Specifications will mirror those available in the ordinary A6 range.
