New Outlander in November

Mitsubishi will launch the new Outlander PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid EV System) this week in Paris as well as the Colt replacement, likely to be called the Mirage which will launch in Ireland early in 2013, writes Trish Whelan.

The new Outlander SUV will arrive here this November with a very efficient and clean 2.2 diesel engine. It will be available in 5 and 7 seat 6-speed manuals, and a 7-seater with automatic transmission. C02 emissions are from 126g/km; and fuel consumption up to 58.9mpg. Over 40 comfort, safety and styling features as standard include cruise control, Bluetooth, hill start assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist and privacy glass.

New Outlander has been fully engineered with Mitsubishi's new PHEV technology in mind. The Outlander body will have an EV-Based plug-in hybrid powertrain. When fitted to New Outlander, this PHEV system can achieve a range of over 880km and have emissions below 49g/km.

Mirage cars here will be powered by a 1.2 79bhp petrol engine which delivers emissions of under 100g/km.
