Trim down road signs, call in UK

The Transport minister in the UK has offered a prize for local authorities who 'declutter' road signs in their area, writes Brian Byrne.

Saying that there are many 'pointless', 'confusing' and 'expensive to maintain' signs blotting the UK landscape, Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said he wants to encourage Councils to tackle the problem.

Those authorities who are working to minimise such signage will be acknowledged at an awards ceremony in June.
