Young women aged 17 to 24 are more likely to cause a flat battery by leaving their car lights on than any other demographic, an AA Membership survey of over 9,200 people has found.
Most parents won't probably be too surprised that the under 24s are more likely to leave their car lights on as it's a common feud in many households.
The AA found that 22.6 percent of 17 to 24 year olds admitted to doing this, a figure more than double that of people over the age of 45.
When it comes to fuel problems though, men are worse as they're more likely to run out of fuel or put the wrong juice into the tank. Filling up with the wrong fuel can be very costly especially if you start the engine afterwards; it can cost up to €1,500 in repairs. If you do misfuel, it's best to call the AA who have specialist equipment to deal with this situation. (New cars from Ford and some Audis have a system that inhibits misfuelling. The new Ford Fiesta with this system is pictured above).
