Over 880,000 used cars sold in 2012

Some 889,441 used cars were sold in Ireland last year according to the first ever 'Carzone Motoring Report', compiled by Carzone.ie.

The survey of over 1,300 car buyers showed that the average age of a car in Ireland is eight years old.

The report also showed that German manufacturers BMW, Volkswagen and Audi were the most popular, most searched for models on Carzone.ie in 2012, with diesel models the most popular choice. Used car searches also peak on the last Monday of every month.

The report also showed that motorists spend €3,745 running their car per year.
