Fiat 500 goes Large

The all-new 500L, described as 'fun, cool and cheeky' is the latest addition to the Fiat 500 family, writes Trish Whelan.

The five-door 500L, classified as a compact-MPV, went on sale here just over a week ago, priced from €21,750.

Two trim levels, Pop Star and Lounge are offered as well as three engine sizes: 875cc TwinAir Turbo, and the 1.3 (with manual and automatic transmissions), and 1.6 MultiJet2 turbo diesels.

It can take five passengers with five suitcases.

The extensive glazing gives a spacious feel to the cabin. Windscreen pillars have been divided and tapered to improve visibility and increase the car's strength increase of a collision. A knock-on effect is that the Fiat 500L has already been awarded a maximum five-star car crash safety rating by Euro NCAP.

Fiat believe the car will appeal to those who want their car to be an extension of their personality and to reflect their passion for life. The Fiat 500L  is built in Serbia.
