Land Rover took winners to Lions Camp

In the build-up here in Ireland to the British & Irish Lions Tour 2013, Land Rover celebrated its role as Official Global Sponsor by taking Kyle Smith (11) and his mother, Edel Smith from Riverstown, Kilmessan, Co Meath, to Kildare for a unique experience which included exclusive access to the Lions during their pre-tour camp at Carton House in Maynooth, writes Trish Whelan.

After watching the private training session, Kyle and his Mum were then surprised by an impromptu visit from the players who came over to meet them.

Kyle won this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when his father completed an entry last month. He said watching the training session was good enough, 'but then when every player came to meet us it was just incredible'. "They signed my rugby ball and had their photos taken with me. I'm never going to forget this."

Next day, the winners were then treated to an off-road driving experience at Carton, tackling the challenging course of mud, water, steep inclines seeing the capabilities of the Land Rover vehicles first hand.

Melanie McCourt, Marketing Manager, Land Rover Ireland says "An important part of our sponsorship is about supporting the local community and investing in the grassroots level of the game, so it's wonderful that Kyle enjoyed his time at the Lions' camp."
