New Skoda Octavia RS is fastest ever

The New Skoda Octavia Combi RS will launch here in Ireland in late July with the hatchback version making an appearance in September, writes Trish Whelan.

This will be the fastest Octavia ever, offering a combination of sportiness, space and functionality.

The New Octavia Combi RS (estate) is powered by two turbo charged engine alternatives which will provide more power whilst consuming up to 19 percent less fuel. Both engines are mated to six-speed manual transmissions or as an option, a DSG dual clutch automatic transmission.

The car accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds.

The big seller here will be the 2.0 TDI 184bhp diesel, with a 2.0 TSI 220bhp petrol also featuring.

The new RS will be more heavily equipped than the outgoing version with 18-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, Bi-Xenon headlights with LED and Twin Exhausts all added to the package.

Prices are estimated to start from €32,495 for the 2.0 TDI 184bhp diesel in hatchback form.

Raymond Leddy of Skoda Ireland says "We would all love to drive sporty high performance vehicles, but are prevented from doing so because we assume they are unpractical and are expensive to run and purchase. The RS expels these myths with exceptional luggage and interior spaciousness and fuel economy from 4.6 L/100km (61mpg)."
