Audi share up, numbers down

Audi Ireland has increased its market share in the six months to the end of June to 5.2 percent, although the actual numbers of their cars sold declined by 8.6 percent, writes Brian Byrne.

Registration figures from Motorcheck.ie show that the brand registered 2,736 units in the first half of 2013 against 2,993 in the first half of 2012.

This year, the biggest seller has been the A4 of which 711 units were registered. A key driver of market share performance was an increase by more than one-third of sales of the A3, the third biggest selling model in the range (pictured above).

The overall Irish new car market was down by 20 percent in the first half of this year.
