Audi reveals new Quattro concept sketches

Audi has released design sketches of its Quattro plug-in hybrid supercar concept which will be showcased at teh Frankfurt Motor Show next month, writes Brian Byrne.

The aggressively styled coupe has been conceived a s a limited-production model, to be priced above any existing Audi car.

The new car will serve as a technological figurehead for the rest of the lineup with a new plug-in hybrid driveline that mates a twin-turbocharged 4.0 V8 petrol engine and electric motor for an overall output close to 800hp. It is expected the car will have a 0-100km/h time of less than 4 seconds and a top speed of close to 300km/h, matched in the Audi lineup only by the R8 V-10.

Sales of the car, to be built in Germany, are expected to start in 2016.
