New engines from Volvo

Volvo will introduce two new high-efficiency engines to the Irish market in the autumn, writes Brian Byrne.

The 2.0 power units under the DRIV-E designation Volvo uses for its fuel efficiency technology will be available in the VS60, V60 and XC60 cars at first, in the form of a new 181hp D4 diesel, and a 360hp T6 petrol in the S60 and V60

A new 8-speed automatic gearbox will be available with both engines.

When fully rolled out, the new diesels will range from 120hp-230hp and the compressor/turbocharged petrol units from 140hp to more than 300hp.
