New Yorkers who owe the state more than $10,000 in back taxes are now in danger of losing their driving licences, writes Brian Byrne.
The scheme goes live shortly, and the state's Tax Department is targeting 16,000 residents who between them owe around $26m.
They'll have 60 days to get their affairs in order with the Department, or their driving licences will be suspended.
Governor Andrew Cuomo says the scheme will keep those who don't pay off the roads they refuse to contribute towards.
