Fiat launches 7-seat 500L

A 7-seat version of Fiat's 500L has just gone on sale in Ireland at a starting price of €23,550, writes Brian Byrne.

The 500L MPW is designed as an alternative to the traditional C-segment estate, but in a shorter footprint. The 4.4 metres car comes with two levels of trim, Pop Star and Lounge.

The rearmost two seats fold flat into the floor when not in use, and are suitable for passengers of up to 1.65m in height.

The entry level version includes air conditioning, cruise control, 16-inch alloys and a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob.

Infotainment is managed by a touchscreen system with Fiat/Chrysler's Uconnect and remote controls, while safety features include a full suite of stability and traction control systems as well as rear parking sensors.

Three engines are available, the 105hp 0.9 TwinAir petrol with a 6-speed manual gearbox; the 85hp 1.3 MultiJet (5-speed manual or 5-speed Dualogic automatic transmission) and the 105hp 1.6-litre MultiJet (6-speed manual).

The diesel-powered 1.3 MultiJet 85hp Pop Star starts at €24,300. A five-year warranty comes as standard on all versions.
