Campaign to have employers ban car phone use

A campaign in Britain on banning the use of phones while driving should be emulated here, writes Brian Byrne.

UK-based road safety charity Brake has kicked off the initiative today asking employers to ban the use of mobile phones while driving on company business.

The charity is also asking employers to tell staff to hang up on any calls where the recipient is found to be driving.

More than half a million UK drivers have penalty points for mobile phone use and other distracted driving offences.
