BMW M3 saloon |
They mark the fifth-generation of the high-performance sports car from BMW M. This is the first time the coupé and saloon models get individual model names.
Another first is the adoption of a turbocharged engine for this M model: the high-revving, 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology has been specifically developed for this purpose and produces a maximum output of 431hp. Peak torque is 550Nm which is 40 percent more than the outgoing M3. In spite of this, the new engine also achieves a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions of around 25 percent.
The M3 saloon and M4 Coupé can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds and return 32.1 L/100kms (34.0mpg) for the combined fuel cycle. Emissions of 204 g/km place both in Tax Band F of €1,200 a year in road tax.
The new car has shed over 80kgs in weight compared to the previous model, due to the extensive use of lightweight materials including carbon-fibre.
Both cars come with an extensive range of standard equipment and connectivity, and with a wide range of options.
The M3 saloon will have an OTR price of €100,050; the OTR price for the M4 Coupé OTR is €100,890.
