NCT analysis shows jump in failures

The deteriorating state of the Irish car parc is illustrated by the fact that 194,316 more vehicles failed the NCT in 2013 than in 2010.

That's according to figures from the NCT analyzed by autotrade.ie, which notes that the pass rate in the tests has dropped by 4.7 percentage points in four years.

And autrade.ie's Padraic Deane, who researched the story, also asks if there are a high number of dangerous cars driving around on Irish roads, as the number which didn't sit a retest in 2013 were close to 10,000.
