Hyundai surges in January registrations
Hyundai in Ireland sold a record 2,320 cars in January, bringing the brand into third place in passenger car registrations after Toyota and Volkswagen, writes Brian Byrne.
For the month, which showed a big 'bounce' in registrations compared to recent years, the Korean company achieved 10.12 percent market share (Toyota 12.2%, VW 11.66%).
According to the Irish distributor's Stephen Gleeson, it's the first time in a decade that a new brand has made it to third place in the market.
Along with the Santa Fe and ix35 SUVs, the key models are the i20, 130 and the new generation i10 (above) which has just gone on sale.
