VW Group has lion's share of January hire regs

Volkswagen Group Ireland cars represented more than two-thirds of all cars registered for car hire during January, writes Brian Byrne.

The largest penetration was the Skoda brand, with 24 percent of the 954 vehicles registered for hire drive, followed by Volkswagen (22.7%), SEAT (11.5%) and Audi (9.6%).

Looked at as a percentage of each brand's registrations during the month, the Skoda hire drive represents 14 percent of its total, Volkswagen is 8.1 percent, SEAT is 17.3 percent and Audi 9.3 percent.

Hire drive registrations across all brands represented 4.16 percent of the 22,913 vehicles registered during January.
