The replacement for the Land Rover Freelander will be called the Discovery Sport, writes Trish Whelan. The car will be the first new member of the Discovery family.
The name was revealed yesterday by Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director, in his speech at the launch of the Discovery Vision Concept at the New York International Auto Show.
This all-new premium compact SUV, which will go on sale in 2015, will be the first production model to take cues and features from the Discovery Vision Concept car.
At the announcement, Gerry McGovern said "The Discovery Sport will be the most versatile and capable SUV in its segment."
