New compact SUV from Lexus

Lexus is making an even more serious commitment to its 'spindle' grille identifier with the NX compact SUV unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show, writes Brian Byrne.

It may be a bit OTT for some, but there'll be no mistaking what's in your rear-view mirror when it starts rolling out on the road.

More interesting perhaps is a brand new 2.0 turbo petrol engine from the brand which debuts in the car, offering 235hp and with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

There's also a naturally-aspirated version with a CVT transmission, while the hybrid technology is present in the NX 300h with 196hp from the 2.5 petrol engine/electric motor setup.
