Skoda looking for high mileage cars

If you own a high mileage SKODA car, or know someone who does, then this will be of interest, writes Trish Whelan.

SKODA Ireland has just launched an online competition searching for high mileage SKODA cars. The competition was inspired by a 2002 Octavia which came to the company's attention when they were contacted on Facebook by a young man named Robert Sullivan. Robert was looking to part company with a 1.9 TDI, 90bhp Ambiente Octavia that had been in his family's possession for the past 11 years.

SKODA took it in, gave it a service, a fine tune and complete valet. It passed its NCT on first attempt and is now the veteran of SKODA's press fleet. This car currently has 512,743 miles / 826,179km on the clock and the company has set the challenge: can this be beaten?

To enter the competition, SKODA drivers must simply upload photos of their car with over 200,000km on the clock to facebook.com/SKODAIreland. Cars must be taxed, insured, have an NCT cert and be road legal.

Each picture submitted with over 124,000 miles/200,000km will receive a specially commissioned SKODA High Mile Club t-shirt and the overall winner will be rewarded with a travel prize. Each entrant must submit a photo of the odometer and also a photo of the car.

The online competition was launched by model, Vogue Williams.
