Volkswagen sponsor National Museum of Ireland

Volkswagen Ireland has a new sponsorship deal with the National Museum of Ireland, writes Trish Whelan.

The three year sponsorship represents a six figure investment from Volkswagen Ireland and will see the automotive brand become official partner to the National Museum. Volkswagen plan to support the partnership with a campaign including advertising, digital and PR support.

Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan TD attended at the National Museum of Decorative Arts & History at Collins Barracks to launch the partnership.

Volkswagen has a long history in Ireland dating back to the 1950s when the Volkswagen manufacturing facility in Shelbourne Road in Ballsbridge became the first location where Volkswagens were made outside of Germany.

Last year the museum welcomed over one million visitors to its four sites; the Museum of Archaeology, the Museum of County Life, the Museum of Decorative Arts & History and The Natural History Museum.
