New C-Class Estate in the autumn

This is the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate which will be rolled out in September, writes Brian Byrne.

The car is longer and wider than the outgoing model, and rear seat passengers have more legroom, while overall there's better headroom too.

There's a maximum load capacity of 1510 litres, ten litres more than in the current model. The load compartment volume behind the rear seats has increased by five litres to 490 litres.

The rear seats now have a 40:20:40 split instead of the 60:40 split in the predecessor.

Among the engines there will be be a diesel hybrid, offering a rated 74mpg equivalent.

Meanwhile, the new C-Class saloon is to be launched in Ireland next Wednesday.
