Peugeot RCZ R roars in

Peugeot's RCZ R 270bhp, the most powerful road-going car the Lion Brand has ever sold, has gone on sale in Peugeot dealerships throughout Ireland, writes Trish Whelan.

In more than 120 years of manufacturing cars, the RCZ R is like no other Peugeot model, with its superb performance and agility, the results of countless hours of bespoke development and attention to detail. It also went through its paces on and off the track with Peugeot Sport's experienced test drivers in control.

Peugeot says this two-seater sports coupe 'guarantees a thrilling ride for anyone who gets behind the wheel. With a lot more power than the 200bhp model, it sets a new record in its category achieving the most bhp from a 1.6 engine in a production car. To achieve this, engineers at Peugeot Sport in Paris have reworked almost every component behind the car's iconic lines.

Inspired by the brand's RCZ Racing Cup track car, and riding 10mm lower to the ground than the RCZ, the car can sprint from 0-100km/h in a fast 5.9 seconds. Yet with the car’s high performance, emissions are 145g/km C02.

The RCZ comes with improved aerodynamics, special suspension settings, wider wheel rims, and increased spring stiffness which work together to optimise grip and road holding.

Standard features include 19-inch R alloy wheels, dual sports exhaust, sports front seats, leather/alcantara upholstery, cruise control + speed limiter, dual zone air conditioning, xenon directional headlamps with washers, parking aids, satellite navigation, automatic headlamps + wipers, leather sports steering wheel and gear lever, Bluetooth, electronic stability programme, emergency brake force distribution, dynamic stability control, electrically operated and folding door mirrors as well as distinctive matt black roof arches.

Colours available include Moroccan Red, Nera Black, Mercury Grey and Opal White.

The RCZ R is priced from €52,990 plus delivery related charges. The 1.6 turbocharged petrol model is now available to order.
