Volvo sponsors Volvo Cork Week 2014

Volvo Car Ireland and its principal Volvo dealer in Cork, Johnson and Perrott Motor Group, are sponsoring Volvo Cork Week 2014 which takes place from 5-11 July at one of the world’s oldest yacht clubs, the Royal Cork Yacht Club based in Crosshaven, Co Cork, writes Trish Whelan.

The Volvo brand is synonymous with sailing around the world from the Volvo Ocean Race which had a port stopover in Galway in 2009 and finished in Galway in 2012, to the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta which the company has sponsored since 2007. This is the first year that Volvo Car Ireland has been involved in Ireland’s longest running international regatta week, Cork Week, which is recognised as one of the premier regattas in Europe. Many boats will travel from all around Ireland as well as from further afield to participate in the event.

Volvo Car Ireland’s Managing Director Adrian Yeates said at the launch that Volvo Cork Week will be one of the biggest sailing events to take place in Ireland this year, and that next year will be the turn of the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta.

A range of Volvo Ocean Race editions will be on display for the duration of the Cork event including the Volvo Ocean Race edition available on the V40 Cross Country, Volvo V60 and Volvo CX60 models. These versions are available to order now from Volvo dealers.
