SKODA Citigo Monte Carlo breaks cover

SKODA's Monte Carlo model family has grown with a new Citigo Monte Carlo derivative to accompany the Fabia version, writes Trish Whelan.

With sports seats, aluminium wheels, smart exterior and interior design features, these special models come well-equipped as standard.

"The demand for the Fabia Monte Carlo has shown that our customers' want custom-designed cars with a sporty streak," says Raymond Leddy, Head of Marketing & Product at SKODA Ireland.

The Citigo city car was launched about two years ago. Both 3-door and 5-door models are offered. Engines range from 60/75bhp. Customers can choose from manual, or ASG Auto transmissions.

15-inch alloy wheels are standard but 16-inch ones are available. The sportiness comes with the sport chassis lowered by 15mm so the car sits somewhat lower than the standard Citigo. Windows are tinted, as is the sunroof. Black features on the exterior include on the radiator grille frame; the broad, black air inlet and black front spoiler. Side mirrors are also black, as is the roof-edge spoiler. Other design features are in the lower section of the sides and on the tailgate.

Inside the look is mostly black with red stitching. Standard sports seats are also in black and red with grey stripes. Door sills feature the Monte Carlo decorative trims while the dashboard has a special Monte Carlo design with an integrated pad and black decorative paintwork.

The Monte Carlo's features are based on the 'Ambition' design. Four airbags, ABS, ESC, and central locking with remote control are among the standard features. The Citigo received a maximum five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

On sale now priced from €12,995-€14,845.
