SV will offer more than Golf Plus

When RHD versions of the new Golf SV go on sale this summer, buyers will be offered a car that's longer, wider and higher than the standard Golf hatch, but also larger than the Golf Plus that it replaces, writes Brian Byrne.

A significant 48mm extra length to its wheelbase also helps to give more room and flexibility inside, and the rear seat can move forward and back over 184mm, increasing either passenger or cargo space.

Compared to the standard hatch's 380L, the SV has a 500L boot capacity, which increases to 590L with that rear seat fully forward.

When we have more details, expect similar engine and trim specs in the range as are now available in the hatchback range, as well as the suite of electronic driver and safety aids.
