New 5-door Mini in the autumn

BMW has revealed details of the new 5-door Mini Hatch, adding another variant to the new third generation, writes Brian Byrne.

The new car is 161mm longer than the 3-door, with a 72mm longer wheelbase bringing it to 2,567mm and offering 72mm more foot space and legroom. The car is slightly taller, by 11mm. There's also more luggage space, now at 278L.

At launch, the 5-door Mini hatch will offer four versions with fuel consumption between 3.6-5.9L/100km and emissions between 95-136g/km.

The 5-door Mini hatch arrives in the autumn. Though there are no Irish prices yet, in Britain it will be in the region of £600 more than the 3-door.
