The flagship SUV has new styling, new safety technologies, more fuel-efficient engines and a more premium interior than the current car.
Deliveries begin in Europe and the US in early 2014 and the public will get a chance to see it at the Paris Motor Show in October.
The car is the first to be built on a new architecture which will underpin all future mainstream Volvo models.
