New DS concept for Paris

This is the DS Divine concept which will showcase the design direction of the new stand-alone brand from PSA, writes Brian Byrne. It will feature at the Paris Motor Show.

DS was introduced four years ago as a premium level of the Citroen brand. The group says it has had a 'positive' impact on earnings.

Currently there are three DS models, but PSA wants to double this in the medium term. The Divine concept previews a compact hatchback powered by a 270hp 1.6 petrol engine.

Premium jeweller Swarovski and high fashion company Lesage are featured in the concept to highlight the buyer level to which the brand aspires.

The name DS reflects the iconic Citroen DS19-DS21 of the 1950s through 1970s which were technological leaders of their time.
