The new car has been given a brand new design, new engines and new technologies, and engines.
Buyers will have a choice of three trim grades (Trendline, Comfortline and Highline) as well as two petrol and three diesel engines across the range.
Petrols include a 1.4, outputting 125bhp and 150bhp while the diesel line-up consists of the 1.6 in 120bhp, a 2.0 with 150bp, and a 2.0 with 190bhp. All are in Tax Band A3 of €190pa.
The basic Trendline features air conditioning, a 5-inch touch screen infotainment system, Bluetooth, an electric parking brake, Front Assist including City Eergency Brake, leather steering wheel and keyless engine start system "Keyless Go'. Comfortline, from €29,205, adds 16-inch alloys, 3-zone climate control, and park distance control while the Highline (€32,580) changes to 17" alloys, and gets Adaptive cruise control and Alcantara/Vienna leather upholstery.
Customers will be able to pre-order 151 models in the brand's dealerships from today and Volkswagen Ireland is planning a series of dealer-based events in November to showcase this new model.
The new Passat will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
