UPC Nationwide fleet relies on Ford Transit

UPC - which provides a full suite of cable TV, telephony and broadband services to both residential and business customers across the country - has expanded its fleet of Ford Transit Custom models which the company uses to provide its range of services to private and business customers nationwide.

According to Eugene Lattin, UPC's Head of Procurement and Fleet, with the evolution of their business in recent years, their fleet has moved from being predominantly based on the smaller Transit Connect to the larger Transit Custom.

He says with their expanded range of product and services provided to households and businesses across Ireland, their network engineers need more space and functionality from their vans, and the Transit Custom ticks all the boxes. "In addition, our teams love the Transit for its great driving ability which is very important when you see the mileage that they clock up."

Each Transit Custom is fitted out with a specially designed shelving system and custom built roof rack. The system was designed around holding a wide range of consumable stock used by the network engineers in their everyday work, and to minimise any risk involved while staff access the fit in their vans.

Mr Lattin also said the Transit Custom's practicality 'is a hugely important factor in their choosing the vehicle but equally, I have to look after the euros and the cents and the Transit scores very well here too as the vehicle has the lowest overall running costs of any vehicle in its class'.
