School run means longer commuting times

Commuting to work is taking longer now that schools are open again, according to motoring solutions specialist easytrip, writes Brian Byrne.

A survey by the company suggests that three-quarters of journey times have increased by 30-40 minutes.

More than nine in ten of respondents said they drove their children to school, over half of them travelling between 1-5km.

Some 56 percent of respondents who commute daily but do not do the school run stated that they drove to work every day. A fifth walk, 12 percent use the train, DART or Luas, while 8 percent cycle and 4 percent use a bus.

The survey involved 700 commuters.
