It's 20 years today since the first Skoda designed with part of the Volkswagen Group was rolled off the production line, writes Brian Byrne.
Following the completion of a partnership deal in 1991, design work on a new can began, and it resulted in the Felicia that drove off the line in Mladá Boleslav at 10.20 in the morning of 17 October 1994.
The Felicia was originally released with a 1289cc petrol engine with two output options. In 1995 a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 1.9-litre four-cylinder diesel were launched.
Up to 2001 around 1.4m Felicias were produced as hatchbacks, estates, pick-ups, Vanplus and Fun models.
