Suzuki's new Celerio goes on sale from 1 December at a starting price of €11,995, writes Trish Whelan.
The company is claiming class-leading interior space, and boot space of 254L.
Two versions of the 1.0 3-cylinder engine will be available, including a newly-developed variant offering significant reductions in fuel consumption and emissions. CO2 emissions from 84g/km with fuel consumption from 3.6L/km is achievable with the most efficient version.
A 5-speed manual will be joined with a 5-speed automated manual that offers similar fuel economy as a standard manual.
Safety systems include six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a hill-hold control.
There are two grades, GL and GLX, with aircon, alloys, Bluetooth connectivity and DAB radio as standard on both.
Suzuki Ireland's Declan Maguire says the company will sell some 150 units in a full year in the smallest segment in the Irish market.
