Volvo Cars will unveil the Cross Country version of its V60 sportswagon at the 2014 LA Motor Show this month, writes Trish Whelan.
This is the third Cross Country model and comes with a combination of strong styling and rugged capability, catering for those with active lifestyles and who like the dirt road over the paved.
Volvo was the first premium brand to offer increased all-round capability and styling to its wagons as far back as 1997 when it introduced the V70 Cross Country.
The V60 Cross Country's ground clearance has been increased by 65mm compared to the V60. Offering new Cross Country 18-inch and 19-inch wheels, the car gets high profile tyres, adding comfort and off-road aesthetics, reducing road noise and providing added wheel protection whether climbing kerbs or negotiating rocky roads.
Volvo's new Drive-E 4-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, which will be available in the V60 Cross Country globally in early 2015, will be the base for the Front-Wheel drive variant, while the 5-cylinder D4 powertrain will provide the power for the All-Wheel Drive variant.
The car will be available first int he US and Canada, and will go on sale in Europe in early 2015.
