Jeep Renegade gets five stars from Euro NCAP

The all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade 4x4 small SUV has been awarded a maximum five stars from Euro NCAP in its latest round of its safety crash tests, writes Trish Whelan.

Euro NCAP crash tests vehicles in order to provide accurate information for consumers about the safety performance of their cars.

Renegade, which builds on the Jeep Wrangler's powerful stance, has a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission that contributes to its on-road and off-road driving dynamics fuel efficient engines, as well as up to 70 advanced safety and security features including seven airbags as standard.

It offers two new 4x4 systems. Both can provide up to 100 percent of the engine's available torque to the ground, through any wheel, for optimal grip.

Powertrain options include four MultiAir petrol engines and two MultiJet II diesels. The vehicle tested by Euro NCAP was the 1.6 diesel Limited FW LHD.

The car will go on sale in Ireland in mid 2015.
