The Dublin based Murray Motorsport team dominated the first ever 6-hour Endurance Race for Ford Fiestas at Mondello Park, with their cars taking four of the top ten placings at the chequered flag.
The winning quartet included three former Dunlop Sexton Trophy winners, Eoin and Niall Murray and Michael Cullen, with Barry English completing the line up, and they led for almost the complete race.
At the finish, they had just over a lap in hand over the Blackchurch Ford trio of Barry Rabbitt, Sean Lillis and Richard Kearney with the second Murray car of John and Liam Denning, Michael Devaney and Rod McGovern another 24 seconds down in third place.
Recently crowned British Touring Car champion Colin Turkington from Portadown showed his class by setting a new Fiesta lap record for the Co Kildare circuit, even though he has only raced there a few times in the past. His team finished fourth.
Denis Moynihan and Gerard Conway won the Rentokil Initial Killarney Historic Rally, 21 seconds ahead of Welsh pair Tomas and Eurig Davies, both driving Ford Escorts. The Volvo of James O'Mahony and Kerrie Barry won the Historic section.
