The new Peugeot 308, winner of European Car of the Year 2014 in March, took home the Continental Irish Compact Car of the Year 2015 gong from the annual Irish Motoring Writers’ Association Irish Car and Van awards ceremony last weekend.
With the results independently audited by Ernst and Young, the six category award-winner results were announced at The Marker Hotel, Dublin, with leading figures from the motor industry in attendance.
The Irish Motoring Writers’ Association jury awarded points across a number of key criteria: innovation, safety, space, comfort, build quality, driving quality and value for money. The new Peugeot 308 hatchback and SW estate range topped the Continental Irish Compact Car of the Year segment and came in third place in the overall standing, scoring a total of 150 points; Nissan Qashqai was crowned overall winner (160 points). The Peugeot RCZ R 270bhp was runner up in the Continental Irish Performance Car 2015 category.
Des Cannon, Managing Director at Gowan Distributors Limited, Peugeot Importers in Ireland said that winning the Continental Irish Compact Car of the Year 2015 award is a clear illustration of the lion-brand’s continued move upmarket.
Retailing from €19,215 and available from €199 per month with 3.9% Peugeot Passport PCP finance, the Peugeot 308 in Ireland comes with extended warranty for five years.
