Audi to step up EV development

Audi has confirmed that up to 30pc of its sales will comprise electric cars by 2025, writes Brian Byrne.

To achieve that, the brand will have three full EVs in its range by 2020, according to CEO Robert Stadler in an interview with the Heilbronner Stimme newspaper in Germany.

The company has already said that one of these will be an electric SUV (above) based on the e-tron quattro concept unveiled at Frankfurt in 2015.

Stadler said Audi will look at trimming variants of its other cars in order to make room for the EV push, which will include an electric version on its smallest car.
