Opel supports FoodCloud

Opel Ireland has added its support to a programme aimed at reducing ‘food poverty’ in the country, writes Brian Byrne.

The company is providing seven vehicles — two
Combo and five Movano vans — to the FoodCloud initiative which distributes surplus food to 250 charities in Ireland.

FoodCloud uses an app which matches surplus food from providers like supermarket chains and other sources to the needs of charities like St Vincent de Paul and the Simon Community.

The Opel vans will deliver up to 1,000 tonnes of produce in the course of a year. The have been refrigerated by TSS Ltd.
