Renault extends models range in Ireland

Two new variants of the Renault Megane have gone on sale which literally extend the model, writes Brian Byrne.

Both the Sport Tourer and the Grand Coupe saloon version are longer and with a longer wheelbase than the hatchback, providing more room especially for rear seat passengers.

The Megane Sport Tourer is priced from €20,490 and the Grand Coupe from €21,990.

The Grand Coupe offers a new top of the range Signature trim level, which includes full leather interior and LED headlights.

The company has also launched the new generation Scenic and Grand Scenic, in a style which is designed to change the image of the compact MPV from a dull but practical vehicle to one which is desirable and able to slow the current trend towards SUVs.

The Scenics also offer the new Signature trim level. And they come standard with a specially designed 20-inch wheel as standard which both adds to the looks and is exceptionally efficient aerodynamically and in rolling resistance.

The 5-seat Scenic starts at €26,000 and the Grand Scenic starts at €28,400. The rear seats are folded and opened by one-touch electric buttons.

With 18 fresh vehicles now available in the Irish market, Renault Ireland Country Manager Paddy Magee says the company now has an opportunity to grow market share across all segments. By the end of the year, the range will be further extended with the arrival of the new Koleos mid-sized crossover and the brand’s first pickup, the Alaskan.
