Ford Ireland is providing a support vehicle for a Kerry athlete who hopes to run 24 marathons across Ireland in 24 days, writes Brian Byrne.
Shane Finn from Dingle will set out on his record attempt on 22 June, hoping to raise €100,000 in aid of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI). His impetus for the fundraiser is that a cousin, Mary, suffers from the illness.
The support vehicle is a new Ford Transit Tourneo Custom diesel with nine seats and a large luggage area for carrying all of the equipment and supplies needed to ensure the success of the '24 Marathons, 24 Days' initiative.
His 628.8 miles total run will bring Shane through counties Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Longford, Monaghan, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Dublin, Offaly, Laois, Kildare, Wicklow, Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford, Cork and Kerry.
